Blackpool postcards are a great record of social history through the years. I would think everyone has at least heard of Blackpool even if they have never visited. Situated on the Lancashire Coast in the North West of England, the town is on the North Sea.
Blackpool didn't become a seaside holiday destination until the arrival of the railways in the 1840's. Trains brought easier access to the town from industrial towns and cities in the North of England and soon brought growth of not only people but a tourist industry that thrives to this day. Many people love to visit for a fun weekend or holiday. If you like a beer and a bag of chips, you can't go wrong in Blackpool.
Popular attractions include the tramway, Blackpool Tower, the illuminations, the Pleasure Beach and of course, the Winter Gardens.
